Last Thursday, March 12, beabadoobee released her new almost four minute song, “All I Did Was Dream of You,” which features The Marias. As a person who doesn’t listen to beabadoobee often, is the song worth listening to?
The song has two themes that are shown, which it first begins with the happiness of a romantic relationship, but then shifts to a more sadder theme of having anxiety of being a relationship that could be too good to be true.
The style of the song is dream-like, which connects to the meaning of the song. The instrumentals are simple but add a calm feeling to the song. I really liked how it was produced.
My favorite line from the song is, “All I wanted was to see everything you see in me.” I think it’s a beautiful line that explains how someone may not see everything good about them, but other people can. It’s a line that’s relatable to me not in a romantic sense, but in a friendship way.

The Marias feature was also a nice touch. It fits in very well, and it’s a smooth transition because of both beabadoobee’s and Maria Zardoya’s, the main vocalist in The Marias, voices. Her lines are the parts that contribute the most to the shift of themes. Overall, her feature was really good and matched the song’s feel.
Many people liked this feature, such as Jimena Lagunas, a freshman at ERHS and a fan of The Marias.
“I love The Marias so much,” Lagunas said. “I don’t listen to beabadoobee, but this song was really good. It’s on repeat right now.”
Personally, this song was very enjoyable. Even if you aren’t a beabadoobee fan, I think if you like indie-type songs, you will like this song too.
Tori Hashimoto, a junior at ERHS and a fan of beabadoobee, says she enjoyed the song.
“I love this song so much,” Hashimoto said. “I like any song beabadoobee releases, but this one is special to me. I like the lyrics and the instrumentals.”
