Does the new ID policy work? It’s a question I thought to myself, so I went looking for answers around the school.
The new ID policy started on September 2. In the new rule, it states that students must bring an ID card EVERY day It says in the policy that it must be from the current 2025 school year to enter the campus. If you do not have they will allow you to still enter, but will print out a paper copy of your ID. You can get a paper printout of your ID in the front attendance window or from the eSTEM office.

The consequences for not having your ID start off with a warning up to your first two times forgetting your ID, but next time you forget your ID, a lunch detention.
Your fifth time not having an ID will result in a before school detention, which you can serve on Wednesday mornings.
Your seventh time forgetting your ID, you will have a conference with an Admin, and you will have to attend Saturday school.
The eighth time, you will have a $5 obligation, and it will put you on the no-go list until you pay off the $5 fine.
I was able to talk to two of the ERHS Admin team about whether they have seen an increase in ERHS students bringing their IDs to school since the new policy was implemented. I talked to Tarra Brattain, an assistant principal at eSTEM Academy
“Yes, we definitely have seen an increase in kids bringing in their ID’s,” Brattain said. “I don’t have an exact percentage, but it’s been a decrease in kids getting printed out in the morning.”
I also talked to assistant principal Dr. Peter Lum.
“We’re printing out fewer ID printouts, which has helped save on paper,” Lum said. “It has also helped us keep a better track of who’s coming into campus.”
