Fortnite is one of the most popular and played game in the world. A major reason of this is because of it’s very unique and complex storyline. The story and game is centered around the Zero Point. The Zero Point is the source of all universes existence, it holds all of the “multiverse” together. And with an energy source with that kind of power, there are always others who try and control that power. For example, over the years major organizations across the game’s multiverse have tried to use the Zero Point for their own purposes, like The Imagined Order (IO), and The Last Reality. What are these two organizations though? And what is their current connection with the storyline?

The Imagined Order, led by a maniac named Geno, discovered the Zero Point thousands of years ago and weaponized it to create their “perfect” reality. Trapping any “Loopers” in a 22 minute cycle of combat and forgetfulness of where they came from, that is what the Battle Royale mode is. Characters like Jonsey used to work for the IO, but he soon realized that what they were doing was wrong. He eventually teamed up with The Foundation (The leader of a Zero Point protection team called The Seven) to attempt to save Loopers.

The Last Reality, led by a currently unknown being called The Nothing, has been trying to destroy the Zero Point for a while now since Chapter 1. They are basically a bunch of aliens and monsters wanting to make the multiverse extinct and turn everything to “nothing.” The Nothing has sent its fighters to try and destroy the Zero Point and get the alien empire to the Fortnite island but many times failing to do both. It is very hard to truly destroy the Zero Point.

The Seven, are a group of individuals from different universes who were brought together by The Foundation (the leader of The Seven) to stop the IO and the Zero Point from trapping “Loopers” in the 22 minute cycle, and trying to send them home. They want to keep the Zero Point stable permanently. They have currently been separated by past events, but in-game quests and events have led to at least some of The Seven, like The Foundation, regrouping to stop the dangers the Zero Point currently has.
I asked ERHS Freshmen, and continuous Fortnite player since 2020, Selah Barrett where she hopes to see the Fortnite storyline go.
“I’d love to see Fortnite revisit old islands or timelines and uncover something everyone missed, like how past events led to the present, or introduce a darker cosmic threat greater than the IO, that was hidden from a long time ago, that forces longtime enemies to unite to survive,” Barrett said.
ERHS Freshmen, and newer Fortnite player, Magnus Hung also shared his hopes for the future of the storyline.
“I’d like to see Fortnite apply their storyline into the gameplay in interesting ways, as it can make the game overall more engaging,” Hung said.
As we slowly learn more about the continuous Fortnite story, I just hope it can bring back the good times and memories the game brought years ago and create new ones.
