On Monday, January 12, the official second semester of this high school year begins at Roosevelt. During this semester, there are many new opportunities coming up this semester and in the new year; however, to do well this semester, students should be prepared. To start getting prepared this year, there are many things students could do, such as setting semester 2 goals or simply reflecting on mistakes from last semester. Many people say semester two is much harder than semester 1, which is why preparing could help you more than you think. “As a sophomore, freshman year was definitely easier than this year, but the second semester of freshman year was where I started slacking more because it got harder than the first semester.” A student from ERHS named Anthony Jimenez said this about the second semester; however, another student at ERHS said something a little different. “Second semester is harder than the first, but not as hard as people make it out to be. I got through it by turning in my work on time as much as I could, and I studied a lot, which made my test scores go up.” -Savannah, a student from ERHS. Generally, most people seemed to do better in the second semester as long as they stayed on top of what they were supposed to. Aside from stressing over future work, many good and fun things are coming as well. On January twenty-sixth, there is going to be a winter rally, following april thirteenths spring rally. There are also fun events coming up for juniors and seniors, such as prom and all the senior event days. Some students’ classes and schedules may change, or have already changed, which gives students a chance to meet new people, teachers, and just try out a new class. Overall, there are many upcoming events this second semester that will happen all the way until the last day of school
