With the start of the Iran War, Iran has closed the Strait of Hormuz since it gives them a tactical advantage and economic damage to their enemy, the United States. The waterway has been blocked for almost a month, causing great disturbance in oil and goods transportation.
However, on April 13, 2026, President Trump decided to close the Strait of Hormuz that had already been closed by Iran. This brought many questions about how this is going to be done. Explanation later revealed that Trump intends to block Iran imports and protect the passage of other countries’ transportation ships.
Not to mention, with this action, the ceasefire deal has been officially completely broken as full-scale war is continuing, as the U.S. Navy is blocking the Strait of Hormuz from Iranian influence.

With both sides of the war preventing any ships from passing the Strait of Hormuz, there seems to be no easy way to resolve this issue at all, since both countries’ stances and demands are different from each other, making it harder to reach a mutual agreement.
Garret Yu, a college student, says, “It’s honestly whatever at this point because I just want our cost of living to be lowered.”
Garret displayed this fatigue towards the war that is increasing the gas prices every day.
Devin Wang, a college student, says, “Blocking the blocked Strait of Hormuz sounds stupid enough, but this is basically mutual economic destruction.”
Devin shows his concerns for the effects and consequences of the war as the conflict continues.
After the initial statement of blocking the Strait of Hormuz for the second time, the United States Navy has begun patrolling around the area to ensure that there are absolutely no ships going through the waterway. The situation seems like the conflict could escalate on a greater scale at any time.
