As of February 13, 2026, President Donald Trump has decided to send the second US aircraft carrier to the Middle Eastern region, while he continues to pressure Iran into making a deal over its nuclear program. “In case we don’t make a deal, we’ll need it,” The President reportedly stated, adding, “It will be leaving very soon.”
The vessel in question, the USS Gerald R. Ford, is the largest aircraft carrier in the world and will be sent from the Caribbean Sea to join other warships that the U.S has built up over the last two weeks. The Ford’s departure was first reported by the New York Times. Aggression has already been committed at the work of the US, having shot down an Iranian drone that approached the USS Abraham Lincoln on the same day last week that Iran tried to stop a US-flagged ship in the Strait of Hormuz.

The USS Ford has also been previously involved with the Venezuela strike force and was sent to the Caribbean last October at the order of the President. In the months leading up to the capture of Nicolas Maduro, the craft was sent for a military buildup leading to a raid. On Friday, Trump warned Iran that failure to reach a deal with his administration would be “very traumatic.” Indirect communication was also held between the two nations in Oman the previous week.
On the topic of a conflict, the Gulf Arab nations have already warned that any sort of serious attack into another regional war in West Africa, which is still recovering from Israeli barbarism in the Gaza Strip.
Asher Chen, an ERHS student, said that they did not wish for any sort of conflict between Iran and America, and that “President Trump should stay in his own lane.”
