NVIDIA is a multi-trillion-dollar company that is dominant in the computer industry with the production of its graphics cards(GPUs). Not only that, but they are also dominating the AI industry with their formidable graphics cards and data centers.
However, on February 7, 2026, NVIDA has announced that they will not make a new graphics card lineup for normal consumers in 2026. Not only that, they are planning to decrease the production of normal GPUs by 40%. They revealed that all the reallocated resources will be sent to AI data centers and the production of GPUs for AI machine learning.

This news, of course, brought a lot of backlash since NVIDIA was essentially declaring that average consumers aren’t worth a lot, prioritizing contracts with different corporations than people. This is especially impactful because about 94% of all GPUs in the world are manufactured and sold by NVIDIA.
Patrick Moon, a student majoring in computer science, says, “This is like them telling us to just eat bread crumbs and get lost.”
Patrick showed his concern and hate towards the current direction of the situation, since everything around computers and electronics had become significantly more expensive. He speculates that GPUs will also increase in price exponentially faster than ever before due to NVIDIA supplying most of the supplies to AI companies.
James Zheng, computer assembler, says, “This is so stupid, they’re cutting down their own revenue and customers for literally what?”
James claimed that NIVIDA is being stupid and that they will lose money over time because they chased for short term profit right now.
As shown in the interview, people are highly against what NVIDIA is doing since it will make the economy worse. It is very concerning that companies are pushing in favor of AI even though there are many backlashes against it.
