On Tuesday the different activity and athletic programs at ERHS had the chance to travel to the local junior highs and share with next year’s freshman all the things they have to offer. During the Lawnch style event, programs were able to present the opportunities they offer in a fun and casual atmosphere. The current eight graders also got to view performances and meet with counselors.
The Roosevelt Review was there to share the student journalism program with future Mustangs, but also to ask them what they are most looking forward to when they get to join our student population next year. Here’s what they had to say.
Students at River Heights shared their excitement for new classes, new people, and new opportunities.
Jameson Smith said, “I’m super excited for football.”
“I’m looking forward to seeing new friends and new people at Roosevelt,” Mason Gholizadeh shared. “I am also excited to join the soccer team.”
Aiden Verdin said, “I’m looking forward to trying to meet new friends, hopefully getting the electives I want, and to succeed in life.”
Serenity Moore shared, “I’m looking forward to doing cheerleading and making new friends.”
Chris Navarro expressed that “all the different classes” was the most exciting thing he was looking forward to next school year.
Harry Avalos shared that he was excited for “their [Roosevelt’s] baseball team.”
Tanishq Nair said, “I’m looking forward to the bigger campus and meeting new people.”
“I’m excited to see all the people there,” Nolan Bautista said. “Also, all the new learning opportunities.”
Ryleigh Williams shared that she is anticipating “meeting new people and making new friends.”
Jainah Burrele is excited for “sports and making new friends.”
“I’m looking forward to more opportunities for joining new classes and meeting more people,” Sophia Dyer said.
Avitej Mann was also looking forward to all the new opportunities.
“New people I’m going to meet, new classes, and the new stuff I get to learn,” Mann said,
“First I want to contribute, I’m eager to express myself with journalism,” Jerry Qu said. “I’m also looking forward to ASB especially because I want to help out a lot.”
“For me, I am really excited to go to high school,” Derick Wang said. “I’m willing to make new friends, have new classes and activities. I hope every teacher is good.”
Ethan Chen added that he is looking forward to, “the programs and joining the swimming team.”
“I’m excited for the dances,” Zoe Leyva said. “Also, trying out for the cheer team, and meeting new people.”
Faith Caudle looks forward to next year and, “hopefully getting in to ASB and choir.”
“I’m curious about almost everything,” Matteo Castro said. “Like what are the teachers going to be like and how the campus is going to be.”
David Jones expressed his confidence that he’s looking forward to “making the football team better.”
Logan Saeli shared, “I’m looking forward to the electives because they might help me with the career I want to do.”
Arabella Le is looking forward to “learning a lot, especially in STEM, and hopefully meeting a lot of my friends who are now freshmen and going to be sophomores.”
Johnny Garcia has hopes for “getting into the eSTEM program or AVID.”
“I want to see all my friends from here and my old school so we can get together again,” Colton Lopiccolo said.
“I’m looking forward to the extracurriculars that are offered,” Ethan Cheng said. “I’m excited to join clubs like FBLA and NHS.”
Francisco Quadros shared that he is “mostly into sports so I’d love to try out and see what I can do.”
Peter Sheng said, “I’m looking forward to all new electives and exploring the options to get ready for my adult life.”
“Sports and AVID” were the most interesting new opportunities for Chance Bailey.
Abdallah Alswaid was also looking forward to the sports and also being in school with his cousin who is going to be a senior next year.
Adan Calderon shared that joining the marching band was what he is looking forward to the most.

Students at Auggie Ramirez were looking forward to the future and the new relationships they will make.
Tyler Harris is looking forward to, “meeting a bunch of new people and exploring the campus and overall learning more things.”
“I’m looking forward to meeting new people and my new classes,” Angelina Miranda said. “Really just discovering new stuff.”
Abdulaziz Alayleh is most excited for “just seeing what type of new classes and what new chances there are.”
“Meeting new friends and taking art class” are the two most exciting things for Emma Hsieh.
Victoria Armstrong said, “I’m looking forward to meeting new people and joining new groups.”
“Four more years until school and then I can just be done,” Joronimo Herrera said. “I’m looking forward to meeting new people and new teachers and seeing how the rest of my life will play out.”
Logan Miller is looking forward to exploring new ideas.
“I’m excited about the things I can do in the future,” Miller said.
Heidi Allan is looking forward to “making new connections with people, making new friends and expanding my horizon for my future.”
Ethan Lepper has hopes for “going to eSTEM and finding out all they’ve got to offer.”
“I’m mostly looking forward to seeing my friends,” Sofia Castelazo said.
“There are a lot of people,” Vishnu Maren said. “I’m looking forward to all the friendships you can make since there is a significantly higher quantity of people there.”
Jeremiah Goodson shared, “I’m excited for making new friends and getting new electives.”
