Finals are coming up on December 15 to 17, and students at ERHS are getting ready to face them. Though, do students really study for finals, or do they take the tests with no preparation?
Many students say that they aren’t going to study, unless it’s necessary or assigned from their teachers. Kamea Garcia, a freshman at ERHS, shares what she is doing for finals.
“I’m planning on only doing the review packets that my teachers gave me,” Garcia said. “Other than that, I’m not studying if I don’t have to.”
Alana Pasillas, a freshman at ERHS, shared how she is studying for finals.
“I went through my whole Language Arts notebook to study because I struggle with that class,” Pasillas said. “I haven’t studied for any other classes though.”
Tori Hashimoto, a junior at ERHS, says that she is planning on studying for finals last minute.
“I don’t have many classes that I really need to study for finals,” Hashimoto said. “I think I’ll study next week or during the weekend so I can remember the information better.”
Not preparing for finals can be stressful later on, so it’s better to study or review. Some ideas are to make flashcards, write summaries of each topic or unit you learned so far, review your notes, and just study from the books. If you are struggling or confused with any topics, ask your teachers or classmates for help. You can also study with friends to make it more fun and enjoyable.
There will be Cocoa and Cram hosted by eSTEM through December 8-11 after school in the Student Union. There, students can study individually or with friends and groups until 5 p.m. to prepare for finals. Hot Cocoa will be served at 4:15 p.m. for everyone who is staying to study.
