As you guys should know Columbus day just passed but we didn’t celebrate it as a holiday this year lest see why that is.

First, lets see why it was a holiday to begin with. According to google, It is many parts of the Untied States, It celebrates the anniversary of Christopher Columbus arrival in America on October 12, 1492 . And that’s the reasoning for it being a holiday.

Now lets see why it shouldn’t be a holiday. Well for starters he killed and enslaved the native Americans, he was not the founder of America that’s the whole point of celebrating this  holiday so it’s kind of built on lies. It’s really just an excuse to have a free day off of work and school. Over all he was just a horrible man, he raped, abused and robbed the natives and deprived them of the place they called home. Roosevelt student Gigi guerrero said “he didn’t discover America” and “He was a horrible man,  so no it should not be celebrated as a holiday.”

So what are some of your thoughts, should Columbus day be a holiday?
