With many snacks and drinks that are offered in the vending machines on campus, what should be added? What should be replaced with something new? I asked many students at ERHS what their opinions were, and here is what these students said.
Aylin Sandoval, a freshman at ERHS, shared what she thinks should be added and removed from the drink vending machine.
“It’s pretty unrealistic, but I want [the school] to add a type of monster energy drink, maybe sugar-free,” Sandoval says. “But they definitely have to get rid of all the Gatorades, because they don’t even taste good.”
A lot of students shared that the school should remove the Gatorades, with some saying all of them and the rest saying only one or two.
Peyton Alvarez, a freshman at ERHS, shared what she thinks should be added.
“I just really want them to add some type of energy drink,” Alvarez says. “I love Alanis, and if they had something similar to those, I would buy one almost every day.”

Meanwhile, in the snack vending machine, there are a lot of requests and complaints about the snacks that are currently available. This includes Tori Hashimoto, a junior at ERHS, who shared her opinion on the options.
“I think there should be spicy Funyuns since there are already regular ones,” Hashimoto says. “Though one thing they should remove is the cookies, because no one even buys those.”
Alan Garcia, a junior at ERHS, shared what he thinks should be added.
“I don’t think anything needs to be removed,” Garcia says. “But something to be added would be regular potato chips. I can’t believe we don’t have those.”
In my opinion, something they should remove from the drink vending machines is one of the water options. I find it unnecessary to have two water options, so I think they should get rid of one to make room for another drink. For the snack vending machines, I think they should get rid of the Poptarts because I really don’t see anyone getting them, and they are decent, at best. I think the school should replace them with some type of granola bar, since those are decently healthy, but also are sweet.
