Music has been with us since the beginning of our civilization. In modern times, we listen to many different genres and types of music everyday with access to limitless amounts of them thanks to the internet.
The internet has allowed us to both make and listen to music much easier than ever before in our times of history. This also led to the development of many different music genres, especially modern and contemporary ones. People would often listen to these genres and form an opinion about them.
Of course, there are some preferences of genres due to a music artist, movie, or TV show becoming famous such as K-pop Demon Hunters and Stranger Things. These are benefactors of the internet as well, being more accessible to people not just in their country, but to all around the world. This allows us to have more diverse opinion about songs.

Jennifer Le, senior at Eleanor Roosevelt High School, says “I love J-pop, but I also like listening to other genres too like rock.”
Le says that she doesn’t really have any preference for music, but particularly likes J-pop. She didn’t show any dislike towards any certain genre of music.
Irene Jung, junior at UC Riverside, says “I like listening to indie band music and K-pop, but I don’t like listening to messy stuff.”
Jung shows her preference towards indie band music and K-pop. However, she showed disliked towards hardcore music genres such as EDM and hardstyle.
Tristen Wong, freshman at Cal State Fullerton, says “I generally listen to everything except hip-hop and rap.”
Wong also says that he doesn’t have any preference for music. He didn’t seemed to care about anything when listening to music, except his dislike towards hip-hop and rap.
There are diverse opinions on which genre of music is the best. However, one will never be the same with another because everybody is different.
