Think Before You Post

Social media has become one of the biggest sources of chaos. A group of teenagers, using a fake news account, made a false story about a terrorist attack on the White House. Although it was fake, pandemonium still ensued. Another fake news account on Twitter claimed the famous YouTuber, PewDiePie, was a member of ISIS. He and another YouTuber, Jacksepticeye, replied to the tweet, proving it to be a lie, but both YouTubers still had their accounts suspended. Additionally, the fake news account was deleted as well. A girl tweeted that “being black is a choice, so slavery was [the African-Americans’] own [expletive] fault.” The tweet was reported and the girl’s account was deleted by Twitter’s administration.

The cause? These people didn’t think carefully before posting. We have become so overly careless with what we say that we end up saying things we should not say. An example? Roughly ten years ago on Twitter, someone stated that if his tweet got one hundred retweets, he would kill the president. The result? He tweeted minutes later that the police showed up at his house. Another tweet came moments later showing that he was in the back of the police car. Unbelievably, he didn’t even know what he did to be arrested. Seriously, how does that happen?!

More recently, this occured during the presidential campaign. You probably heard about the man who was deported for saying that he would be doing the world a favor if he killed Trump. Yep, that’s the guy I’m talking about. This sort of thing is what happens when people don’t think before posting!

Of course, those were the dangerously reckless ones as there are also the stupidly hilarious posts that make people laughingstocks. Even then, that can still harm people, specifically the people who posted them. Naturally, that could mean you.

In addition, several celebrities still believe the world is flat. The most well known and recent one is B.o.B. Apparently, B.o.B doesn’t believe in the airplanes in the night sky or shooting stars. However, others include Tila Tequila and George Bernard Shaw. In fact, they take pictures of the horizon and post them on Twitter, saying that since there isn’t a curve in the horizon, it proves the world is flat. News flash, Ferdinand Magellan and his crew proved the world is round about 500 years ago. How? They took a trip around the world by sailing a ship.

But that’s not all, some of the hilariously ridiculous tweets are caused by typos. Even news stations aren’t exempt from this. One tweet from a certain news station (*cough*NBC*cough*) reported that ISIS members were “shaving their bears.” Fortunately, they corrected the error and said they meant to say “beards,” but it was too late. People were already questioning why ISIS members were shaving bears.

Wendy’s made a tweet that their meat is never frozen, adding onto the chaos. A person responded and said that it was a lie, claiming that Wendy’s had the meat delivered frozen in a hot truck. That doesn’t make much sense, does it? Anyways, Wendy’s asked where a person could keep things cold without freezing them. The person responded by saying that McDonald’s was better. Wendy’s then responded by saying that the person didn’t have to bring McDonald’s into it just because they forgot that refrigerators existed. Just like Danny Burke from the YouTube channel MostAmazingTop10, I’ve seen fast food places burn food, but I’ve never seen them burn people.

Anyways, the point is that I’d like everyone to pay attention to what they type before posting, tweeting, sharing, etc. Well then, it’s time for me to enjoy my snack. I’m having boneless watermelon. And as the French say, bone apple tea!
