Wrestling – Roosevelt Falls Short Against Santiago

Chris Hilsinger-Pate, Staff Writer

On Wednesday, January 18th, Roosevelt’s wrestling team fell to Santiago by a score of 16-57.

The gym was filled with eager fans, and the Mustangs’ unique warm-up routine fired up the crowd. However, the energy was quickly killed as Roosevelt’s first five wrestlers were pinned in the first round of their respective matches.

Despite the struggles throughout most of the duel, Roosevelt’s Nathan Yanez proved to be one of the few bright spots. He didn’t get the pin, but he won five points for Roosevelt as he led his opponent by fifteen points (effectively ending the match).

Roosevelt will look to finish league play on a positive note at home against Norco on January 25th.
