CNUSD National History Day 2020
February 11, 2020
The annual National History Day Competition has rolled around to the Corona-Norco Unified School District (CNUSD) once again, and the emotions ran high while many educators, parents, and students competed and awaited the final results of the competition. On Saturday, February 8, staff and students arrived at Dr. Augustine Ramirez Intermediate School early to participate in interviews about their projects. Having advanced from their school site to the district level, the competitor’s knowledge about their topic was extensive and their ability to coincide with this year’s theme of Breaking Barriers in History was impressive.
Macie Walker, school site History Day coordinator for the eSTEM and ERHS campuses, accompanied her students to the award ceremony and shared in the excitement of many of the competitors succeeding in their respective categories, and moving forward to the Riverside county level competition. Walker recalls the adventures of both judging and celebrating by, “This year’s theme was a brand new one…and it’s very exciting because there are so many different ways that someone could break a barrier in history, whether its a racial barrier, a gender barrier, a scientific barrier, and so it leaves a lot of options open, which was exciting for those of us judging the competition to see!”
With the energy is always palpable, and the buzz of learning is always felt at each history day competition, congratulations to all the eSTEM students representing Eleanor Roosevelt High School who are advancing to the Riverside County History Day competition! Keep learning Mustangs!
