On October 5th, Roosevelt’s girls’ golf team lost to Norco in a highly-anticipated rivalry match by a score of 261-246. It was also Roosevelt’s last home match of the season.

Typically, the home team has a slight advantage because of their familiarity with the golf course, but Norco’s home course is also Goose Creek, effectively negating any “home-field advantage”.

Seniors Mackenzie Kelly and Jazmin Carmona finished out their home careers on a positive note. Kelly had the best round of the day with a 42, and Carmona scored a 50. More memorably, perhaps, is the way the duo finished the match. On the ninth hole, a par three, Mackenzie Kelly hit a great shot that landed about two feet from the hole. She went on to putt the ball into the hole for a birdie. Jazmin Carmona shot a par on the final hole.

In the upcoming weeks, Roosevelt will send its six best golfers to league finals.
