Recent news has revealed that Meryl Streep will be joining the cast of the HBO hit series, “Big Little Lies.” Streep has been cast to play Mary Louise Wright, the mother of Perry Wright (Alaxander Skarsgard) and mother-in-law to Celeste (Nicole Kidman). After her son’s murder, Mary Louise goes to Monterey as she is concerned about the well being of her grandchildren.

Season two is set to air in 2019 and is rumored to be nothing like the first season. HBO’s programming president Casey Bloys said, “People want to see the growth in the character’s storylines…We’re trying to progress everybody’s lives in the storytelling.”

HBO has described the new season as:

“The subversive, darkly comedic drama Big Little Lies will explore the malignancy of lies, the durability of friendships, the fragility of marriage and, of course, the vicious ferocity o

f sound parenting. Relationships will fray, loyalties will erode … the potential for emotional and bodily injury shall loom.”

In an interview with ERHS student and “Big Little Lies” lover Adriana Martinez, I

asked what she predicts Meryl Streep will bring to the show:

“I think Meryl will be another strong stand out with all of the other female characters in the show.” She predicts Meryl,” …will bring a lot of mystery and questions to who she’ll be known as in the second season.”

The wait for season two will have fans on their toes and counting down the days till the premiere!
