During this wave of horror being shown in and outside of Hollywood, three of the “Fierce Five” members of the U.S. gymnastic team had come out to show light to the abuse they had suffered. Aly Raisman, Gabby Douglas, and McKayla Maroney “Fierce Five” members, are only a tidbit of the victims of Larry Nassar from the 140 victims that have come out with accusations of molestation.

Former Olympian Doctor, Larry Nassar was found guilty of molestation this past week with 7 girls, along with accusations of other sexual assaults and inappropriate behavior shown toward young athletes. Larry Nassar’s sentence will be set January 12th to 23 years behind bars with the victims having an opportunity to speak.

In response to the plea that was found on Larry Nassar, Aly Raisman Tweeted out a letter stating the long awaited charge that was necessary and the motivation she carries to end these nightmares from reoccurring, “I am determined to work towards real and meaningful change.”

During this time the victims will now be able to move on from this nightmare and continue to carry their strength and bravery on and off the mat if they choose do so. These athletes have shown a gleaming light not only on the culture being revealed in the U.S. but along with the other thousands of women who have chosen to no longer fear.

Senior Harmony Johnson shares  her view point on the horror crime that was committed, “I think it’s disgusting. When your in a sport and it involves a physician for injury the athlete should feel safe. You should feel safe in any situation with or without a doctor. For athletes they shouldn’t have to worry about these things occurring to them.”
