Color Guard Takes the Wind

Recently, our school’s Color Guard and Marching Band had a heritage festival competition in Placentia, Orange County on Saturday. With Color Guard placing third out of twenty-four other schools: beating Arcadia, one of the highest scoring divisions and band placing fifth place.  The festival was divided into four performances, and Eleanor Roosevelt had a strong presence among the other competitors, despite certain mishaps. One of the captains, Jessica Sofian, injured her finger in a practice yet still persevered and continued to preform three more performances. One of the other captains Celeste Sabolva, said that “it was really intimidating being moved up into a division, but we’re also really happy we did also.” With future competitions coming up, Color Guard seems confident and optimistic. We can only hope that more success follows Color Guard and Band in future competitions, but with the dedication they display in practices, it is not too much of a stretch to assume that they will be victorious.
