From spirit week, to the game, dance, and festivities, Homecoming week is definitely on the list as one of the most engaging events of the entire school year. In spite of this, the  annual Homecoming pep rally is an undeniably  memorable occasion that’s a perfect way to embrace and promote the upcoming events of the  week. From feature performances from our Roosevelt masots, cheer/song teams, and more, this year was  definitely an example of extraordinary demonstrations of talent. This past Monday The Roosevelt Review had an opportunity to interview a representative from a few of the feature performances. Each individual was asked to review their groups performance, and what goals they want to accomplish for the next rally. Check out what they had to say below!

Being one of the first groups to perform in the rally, The ERHS Song team definitely started out with a bang! When asked to evaluate the overall performance, Song member Megan Wendell had a  lot to say! “I think overall we did pretty good, and even though we have a new team, we worked really hard and practiced a lot. As for the performances, they’re always super fun and this one in particular went really smooth, or all three rather. And as for the next rally, we really want to continue working on feeding off energy with our dancing and use of facial expressions, which should really help in getting the crowd more hype.”

After the performances from cheer/song, we also got a chance to watch performances from the ERHS Sabor Latino and Theatre clubs. Consecutively after one another, each group got an opportunity to showcase their latest dancing talents & acting abilities; as The Roosevelt Review got a chance to catch up with some of the performers, and get their feedback concerning their performances. “I think overall we did really great! I was really nervous at first seeing as though this was our first time performing this year, but after the first rally, I think all our jitters got out and I think we did really amazing!” Starlet Udenze, a performer in Sabor Latino commented. As for theatre, we got a chance to catch up with one of the performers, in theatre’s rendition of the classic “Yellow Brick Road” song (somewhat convenient to this years overall homecoming theme) with a modern twist. “I think our performance went really well, overall and I’m really proud of everyone because we all did super well; and as for the next rally, I think we’re gonna work on maybe  performing more numbers that can possibly boost the energy of the crowd even more, but I’m really proud of everyone!” performer Erin Kekuewa stated.

Approaching the end of pep rally, the final performance of the day was by our own ERHS step team, that certainly ended it with a bang as well! We got a chance to catch up with one of the feature performers, Kamreigh Sullivan. “Overall I think we did really good because we were really nervous at first but we definitely overcame that and just had fun and gave it our all! And I think the fact that we also have a new team this year is something you have to take in consideration, but regardless we still did amazing. And as for the next pep rally, there’s always room to improve in every area, but we’ll continue to perform with the best of our abilities, and next performance will be even stronger than this one, so I’m excited to see that.”

Although most ERHS students only had the opportunity to attend one out of three total pep rallies this week, however, we did get a chance to catch up with one of the ASB coordinators that had the opportunity to supervise all three. Check out what Joseph  from ASB had to say, “As for the first pep rally of the year, I think we did pretty well and really gave the freshmen a great impression as they’re the new additions to our school. As for the next rally, I’d really like us to incorporate more games and activities so each of the classes have more opportunities to gain points.”

Well, you heard it Mustangs! Hope everyone enjoyed attending the pep rally this past week, and see you next time! *Want to view behind the scenes footage of some of the rally and  its performers? Check out the slideshow above!*
