La Quinta vs Roosevelt was very interesting. We ended up with the win that we were all expecting! The team was really confident during the week knowing that they have been keeping the same grind. The school had struggled a little bit last year but our team this year is stronger than ever with much more talent. So much talent!

Homecoming seemed so far away but it’s now arriving faster than we thought. I’m sure everyone is excited to put on some makeup, get a little fancy but keep it a little casual and party like there’s no tomorrow but the day before that is Friday Sept. 29 and we have our homecoming game against Ayala.  The team feels very hyped up because in the past few years, it’s been an easy win. So let’s hope it’s the same way and that we can show our Mustangs in our Stadium that we still got it!

The stampede is needing a little more spirit so be sure to show out with your spirit colors. And even though we don’t have school, don’t miss out! I’m sure everyone is very happy about having this 3 day weekend right in time for homecoming because that’s very much needed.

The Mustang Stadium should be filled with friends, family and our fellow Mustangs cheering on for our wonderful team! I know the boys are ready for the game and the dance the day after as is the case with some of our Mustang football players, Khary Sanders, Major Lee and Jaylen Martin.

Lee, wide receiver, says “I don’t think we’ll have any difficulty during this game, we’re the better opponent and we’ll do just fine. It’s a normal game for us so it puts no pressure even if it’s our homecoming game but it’s one more step to our goal which is the state championship, we’ll definitely win this game. I believe our team this year is stronger with much more talent.”

Sanders, defensive line, says “I think we’re well prepared for this game, we just have to come out and do what we do best which is come out as a team, work hard and play hard. I hope to come out with over 10 tackles and be the best teammate I can possibly be to make others around me better. I think during league, we just need to stay focused and keep the right mindset.”

Martin, a corner and safety, says “I know our scheme very well so I know we’ll come out with a great win. This is just a normal game to me so it puts no pressure. Our team this year is stronger because we work together and communicate a lot more. I hope to get 2 interceptions and no passes caught on me this game.”
