On Saturday, August 26, a tragedy has struck close to home for America. An American Freelance Journalist named, Christopher Allen, had lost his life in South Sudan in that day.

According to South Sudan Spokesman, Brigadier General Lul Ruai Koang, Allen was covering the continuation of the civil war in South Sudan between government and rebel forces.

During his attempt to cover the story, Allen was killed on duty as a journalist while the two sides fought against one another.  If you are unaware of the Sudan Civil War, it is a war between the Sudanese government and southern rebels that has been dated back to 1955 and is progressing into modern time.

Sadly, Christopher Allen was not the only one to lose his life, during this chaotic commotion. South Sudan’s State broadcaster states, in Yei River state, 18 others were killed along with Allen.

It is very unfortunate that Christopher Allen has died. Our people, the American citizens, experience the dreadful heartache of loosing the young man.  See the heartache one of Eleanor Roosevelt’s very own junior students, Aalayah Jones, exhibits as she states that Christopher Allen’s death “does break her heart and brings her sadness” and it “is sad because it could of been anyone.”

Love and condolences goes out to the families, who lost loved ones, because of the conflict South Sudan has going on.
