Marcus Williams Drafted by the Saints
May 8, 2017
Marcus Williams, a member of Roosevelt’s graduation class of 2014, was drafted by the New Orleans Saints in the second round of the 2017 NFL Draft.
The safety from the University of Utah had a very successful college career. Over his sophomore and junior seasons, he totaled ten interceptions and eight defensed passes. Additionally, he had 129 tackles over those two seasons.
It appears as if Williams will have a good chance to start in New Orleans right away as he has the skills they prefer in their free safeties: ball skills and range. He is joining one of the worst defenses in the NFL, and there is little doubt that the Saints are hoping Williams can fix some of their woes.
The Saints’ first game of the season is against the Minnesota Vikings on Monday, September 11th.
