Find Our Babies!

Most of the hashtags surfacing the world-wide platform known as social media consist of the following; “#TREATHIMRIGHT2017, #REMYMAVSNICKI, #SUMMER2K17” when in reality the main hashtag that needs invention and  the utmost attention should be something along the lines of #FINDOURCHILDREN! According to the National Center, roughly 800,000 children have been reported missing each year and 2,000 on average each day in the United States. Of those 2,000, almost 200 of these cases are reported as a stranger abduction. In understanding these numbers we must realize that in as little as 5 years, 40 million kids will have been taken from their homes with little to no chances of being returned. Here is one of the most recent child abduction incidents that have befallen our nation;

In the Inland Empire on April 24,2017 authorities issued an Amber Alert Monday night for a 1-year-old girl who was abducted in Rancho Cucamonga, California by her father who authorities claimed was armed and dangerous. The child, named Lexi Segura, was abducted by her biological father, 38-year-old Daniel Segura, from the city around 5:40 p.m. Segura was said to have taken Lexi in a red 2012 Mitsubishi Galant with the license plate 6WEE209. He is described as standing 5 feet 5 inches tall, weighing about 170 pounds, with brown hair and brown eyes.

Luckily this morning it was reported that Lexi Segura, the 1-year-old girl who was the subject of an Amber Alert issued out of San Bernardino County, was found safe in Montclair, and her father has been arrested, according to the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department.

Not many cases play out like one-year old Lexi Segura’s. As citizens we must encourage police accountability, everyone speaking  up, and helping to keep everyone, but most importantly these kids, safe!
