Warning: contains topics such as suicide and gun violence

As you know in episode 12, a 17-year old boy is being rushed to the hospital for a gunshot wound to the head. It is later revealed that the 17 year old was Alex Standall. The ending of the series leaves us with many questions and theories.

One theory is that Tyler, creepy stalker dude/photographer, decided to buy some guns in order to take down the people that bullied him. There is a particular scene where Tyler is looking at the photos of the people that have bullied him.  When he comes across the photo of Alex he remembers that Alex stood up for him at one time. Tyler then proceeds to take Alex’s photo down indicating that either Alex will be the first or he will be spared.

The other theory is that Alex tried to commit suicide. Throughout the show we see Alex dealing with signs of depression. He already has to deal with living up to his strict fathers’ expectations. Then when Hannah dies he feels the most guilty and is the first to own up to what he did. There is a scene where Alex decides to jump into the pool. It looks as if he is drowning but in a way it mirrors Hannah in the bathtub. Another detail that hints Alex tried to commit suicide is just before the scene where he is being rushed to the hospital. He cleans his room which his dad also notices and compliments it. It may not seem strange that he cleaned his room but another person cleaned their room just before something happened. Hannah. One of the signs to recognize a suicide is making preparations.
