Last Wednesday saw the annual eSTEM Cultural Fair, sparking excitement and anticipation across the school. Hundreds attended to see and explore the variety of cultural celebrations all across the eSTEM campus. But what does it really mean for the school and its students?

eSTEM student Laura Schneider, who has attended the fair every year of high school, described festivity.
“They just get together and they do these fun dances, and they serve food,” Schneider said. “I personally love it, I’ve gone every year that they’ve done it. They have dragons that go around and scare people, it’s a good experience!”
About the significance of the event, Schneider responded, “I think it’s so important for people to include where they come from and do performances and show people from other diversities and ethnicities their culture.”
Hearing the stories of those who attended is a wonderful experience and shows just what the fair means. But what about all that went into it? Another eSTEM student, Katherine Terrones, lent her perspective and experience as the planner of Cultural Fair.
“Planning the fourth Annual Cultural has been the most rewarding experience of my years in high school,” Terrones said. “I am immensely grateful and blessed to be able to organize an event that is built up on empowering others in their culture.
“The process of planning took the entirety of the school year leading up to the date. The ambassador board had the opportunity to choreograph a dance that was a fusion of all our cultures.”
Terrones ended with positivity, “It was definitely an event I’ll remember forever. I’ve learned so much about other cultures through the planning of this event and know our community members and students have as well.”
It really is clear how important this event is for the school and for our community. It allows us to know each other more and understand each other’s roots and backgrounds. We should all be proud of our leaders and be grateful to take part in such a significant tradition that means so much.
