Eleanor Roosevelt High School’s marching band has been a part of competitive field marching for the past two years. Last year, they had a very successful season, finishing 6th place out of 12 schools in the SCSBOA’s (Southern California School Band and Orchestra Association) 6A Championship.
To continue this flow, the ERHS marching band has been preparing for this year’s season, which starts in October, since July. They strive to improve every time they rehearse on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays, and even Saturdays. With this effort, marching band members are anticipating more exciting results than last year.

Addison Lam, a former ERHS marching band member (2022), is excited to hear about our marching band’s continuous success from all the way from Texas.
“You guys became so big since I left in freshman year, so I think you guys will do great,” Lam said.
Ethan Shiginaka, who plays clarinet in the ERHS marching band, shared his excitement for the band.
“I’m very excited for this season since we’re already doing so much better than how we ended last year,” Shiginaka said.
Shginaka has been in marching band since his freshman year, and he is anticipating ending his senior year with better results than last year, making it the new best season.
ERHS marching band has made tremendous improvements since two years ago, when they first started their competitive field marching, in which they placed 9th in the SCSBOA 6A Championship. Now, just three years in, they’re aiming for 3rd place in the 6A Championship. They have been continuing their success even from the very first season they started. Although we wouldn’t know the results until the season ends in November, their hard work will pay back with great results.
