The Road To State

Boys Varsity Basketball

Ravyn Warner, Chief Sports Editor

This year has been remarkable for the boy’s varsity basketball team of ERHS. So far, the boys have had one loss within the league and CIF contests. The boys have done an impressive job with staying focused on and off the court which has lead to them securing their spot in the CIF State Division 1 Regional Finals. With the help of their amazing coaching staff (Stephen Singleton and Scott Carr) they have made great success to make history as the best basketball team in Roosevelt history.

If we take a look at the boys’ statistics it is evident that this talented group of athletes was on their a-game throughout the entire season. The boys average over 60 points per game, have a field goal percentage of 46, and average 12.4 assists per game. The boys record overall is 24 and 8. They are currently ranked 34th in the nation and 10th in the state of California.

Our mustangs will take on Centennial as they reach for their 5th straight win against the Huskies. The Huskies are ranked 12th in the state and 48th in the country. The boys will play against one another at The Pyramid in Long Beach, California on Saturday, March 18, for the CIF Division 1 Regional State Playoffs. If our boys take the win, they will travel to Sacramento the following week for the State Championship. Make sure to cheer on and support your mustangs!
