Mookie Betts, Freddie Freeman, and the Los Angeles Dodgers became the first National League team in more than a century to win 110 regular-season games! Cody Bellinger had three hits and two RBIs (runs batted in) for the NL West champions, who are 110-48 after overcoming a three-run deficit with the help of six free passes in the seventh inning.

Honus Wagner and the 1909 Pittsburgh Pirates (110-42) were the previous NL club to win 110 games. The last big league team to accomplish the feature was the 2001 Seattle Mariners (116-46).

In the article from abc7.com, Dodgers manager Dave Roberts is quoted as saying, “That’s a round number (of wins); it’s a big number,” He continued on with, “To celebrate that is a great thing and hopefully we are having this conversation tomorrow with 111. I think our guys are in the moment appreciating it, but we have our eye on some bigger things, too.”

Why am I so interested in the Dodgers big win? Well, a few years ago, let’s say 2017, I saw my dad and mom watching baseball, I never really was interested in watching sports, but I wanted to give it a shot by watching my first sport. The main reason why I became a fan was because of my dad, Jose Avila.

“I have been a fan ever since 1995,” Avila said. “I went to my first game in 1997, I think that it is remarkable knowing that the Dodgers worked this hard throughout all of the tough years”.

My mom, Vanessa Avila, also loves the Dodgers.

“Ever since 2004, I have been a fan,” Vanessa Avila said. “What got me interested in the Dodgers in general was your father.”

When I asked her how she felt about the win, she told me, “I feel very excited, I can only imagine how the players and league feel. Extremely proud to be a Dodgers fan!”

“You have to appreciate what is going on because you never know if this will happen again,” said Dodgers first baseman Freddie Freeman in an article from abc7.com.

For most of those wins, the Dodgers used some loud hits. On Saturday, it was their patience that helped them walk their way to another win. Literally!

The Dodgers hadn’t drawn at least six walks in an inning since August 30, 2011, against the Padres.

“You don’t see that too often in the big leagues. I don’t think I’ve ever witnessed something like that,” said Dodgers manager Dave Roberts in the article from abc7.com.
