Day Without Immigrants Boycott

Angel Villarreal, Staff Writer

There is a boycott that has been spread nationwide that supports all immigrants in the United States. Since most people have seen President Donald Trump’s views on immigrants, the boycott had a purpose to show him what it would really be like if immigrants here in the United States were gone.

On Feb. 16, 2017, the boycott wanted documented and undocumented citizens to not attend their work, class or stores to prove that deporting all immigrants would be detrimental to the nation. From doctors to dishwashers, many have started supporting to prove that immigrants make America great. Restaurants across the Northeast have closed their stories in solidarity with the movement. Most claim that the immigrants were what run their restaurants.

A celebrity chef decided to close down his restaurant after all his workers told him why they were not going to come in on Thursday. He gave his workers the support they wanted and said ” We are all one. We should not be fighting among each other, we should all be working together to keep moving the country forward.” Overall, many hope that this boycott can make a difference and also change President Donald Trump’s mind.
