Yazmin Gamboa

I’ve learned a lot of lessons this past year. One of them is to be okay with outgrowing people. Not everybody is going to be your friend, and not everyone is going to love you. I know it’s hard to leave someone you “love” or care about, trust me, I get it. I had to learn the hard way.

Learn how to be okay with outgrowing people. As many times as you say they mean so much to you, trust me, you may not mean as much to them. Don’t hurt yourself over and over for one person, if it’s a friend, boyfriend, girlfriend, even family members. If they aren’t treating you how they’re supposed to, then why still have them in your life? Not only are they hurting you, but you’re also hurting yourself in the process, by letting it get to you.

“Do not let anybody get in the way of what you want to become because that’s when you get to see yourself and see what you are into and wanting to become.”

I came up with this quote after going into my journalism class. I had a rough time getting in the class, and to be honest I’ve never, and I mean never, let or had somebody tell me that I couldn’t do it. If you know what you’re capable of, and if you have a dream, chase it. Do not let anybody stop you or tell you that you can’t do something that they don’t know what you’re capable of.

Most people consider friends as their family. Yes it’s a thing. It doesn’t matter if they’re blood or not, I’m telling you right now, your family is whoever sticks by your side through thick and thin. Family is the people who have your back no matter what happens. Most importantly, your family are the ones who respected you the most and let you know that they are there for you.

My quotes have meaning to them. I don’t just write things down, just to write them. Words would randomly pop into my head and I end up putting the words together and making my own sentence. There’s a meaning behind all of them. I’m sure people would ask “why?” Well, personally, why am I going to write something down, without it having meaning or without meaning it? There’s a meaning behind anything and everything, a back story perhaps.

I have a journal at home, where I have all my quotes & the meaning next to them. Writing words, random words down, just brings me at peace, it helps me distract myself. It also helps me find more things about myself in the process. I may not know something about myself, until I either come up with something and write it down, or someone tells me.

Writing things down has helped me a lot. Other people have different coping mechanisms, but writing is mine. I’m sure I’m not the only one who has this mechanism, but I do hope you do find your peace, and if you have, then I’m happy that you did. Spending time alone is okay, not everybody is going to want people around them.
