Aaron Rodgers Returns to Green Bay

Aaron Rodgers Returns to Green Bay

Something that was speculated on since last football season and was a key point in this season as well was the status of Green Bay Packers QB Aaron Rodgers.  Throughout the 2020-2021 season the Green Bay Packers where flying high having a record of 13-3, and being one of the best teams in all of football. That season Rodgers put up astronomical numbers posting 48 passing touchdowns to 5 interceptions. And having 4299 passing yards with a Quarter back rating of 70.9 percent.  The Pack was able to clinch the #1 seed and secure the first round bye and home field advantage, they beat the Jared Goff lead L.A. Rams in the divisional round and where set to play in the NFC championship game.  It was Aaron Rodgers first NFC championship game where he would be at home. Even though Aaron Rodgers had the best and quite honestly the easiest path to the Super Bowl bur they ran into the newly led Tom Brady Buccaneers. Brady just parted ways with the New England Patriots where he played 20 years,  Brady had already defeated Aaron Rodgers earlier in the season.

Rodgers and the Packers fell too Bucs 31-26, and Tampa wound up winning the Super Bowl. hat was when the drama between Aaron Rodgers started to boil over during the 2021 off season when Rodgers made it clear that wasn’t fully on board with returning to Green Bay. There was a small issue with Aaron wanting to leave because he was still under contract with the Packers before he had a player option.  Everyone was on the edge of their seat to see what he was going to do I was hopeful that the San Francisco 49ers would have tried to grab him considering they had a couple of first round picks to spare they would’ve made a push for the league MVP.

It was reported that Aaron was telling people in the organization that he wanted out. Adam Schefter an ESPN analyst wrote,”Reigning  MVP Aaron Rodgers is so disgruntled with the Green Bay Packers that he has told some within the organization that he does not want to return to the team…” This was released April 29th of 2021 at the height of this whole situation. Long story short Aaron wound up coming back and posting another great season putting 37  passing touchdowns to 4 interceptions. With 4,115 passing yards, again the Packers having another great year earning a record of 13-4 and again claiming the one seed in the NFC and taking the first round bye.  Again being a favorite to win the Super Bowl this time they fell out of the playoffs to the San Francisco 49ers at home and in favorable conditions for the Pack.  It was laid out for them to make the trip to L.A. to play in the big game all they had to do was beat the niners AT HOME and move onto the next.

When the game concluded in a post game press conference Aaron Rodgers was asked about his future with the Packers he said, ” I’m gonna take some time away make a decision.” So the speculation resumed where he was gonna play well it all came to an end yesterday when the Packers proposed a 4-year $200 million dollar deal with $153 million guaranteed. Making him the highest paid QB in NFL history.  All I have left to say is this saga is hopefully over and now it is time for the Packers to gain the rewards for giving Aaron this money, a Super Bowl has to be in this teams future.
