Hey Mustangs!

As we all know, Superbowl Sunday is coming up this weekend. This is the NFL’s 54th Superbowl and it is being held in Miami, Florida for the 11th time. Superbowl is taking place on February 2 at 6:30 pm at the Hard Rock Stadium in Miami, Florida. The Kansas City Chiefs and the San Francisco 49ers will be battling it out for the first time ever in history. For this year’s halftime show, Jennifer Lopez and Shakira are performing and Demi Lovato will be singing The National Anthem.

The NFL is preparing for the Super Bowl in many ways. According to The Washington Post, “We have upwards of 6,000 people working behind the scenes to get everything set up,” said Eric Finkelstein, NFL Senior director of events operations. They are also making changes like adding four large video boards and they are also putting up a canopy to protect fans from the rain. CBS Sports stated that, “The 49ers are getting their Super Bowl game plans together. The team compared it to Christmas morning with a fresh packet of new plays to run in Miami against the Kansas City Chiefs.”

I asked two seniors, Chloe Gonzales and Skylar Swalm, what they are doing to prepare for the Super Bowl and what they think about the halftime show performers. Gonzales said, “I am probably working and I usually don’t keep up with football. So I will just keep up with the game on my phone to see how the game goes. I think the halftime show will be alright, it’s the only thing I would go out of my way to watch since I don’t watch football.” Swalm replied, “I am not doing anything really to prepare for the Super Bowl. I am going to my dad’s friend’s house to watch the game and eat all day with family. I think the halftime show performers are an interesting pair. I don’t usually watch the halftime show, so it will probably be playing in the back of the party.” I also asked them who they think is going to win the Super Bowl. Swalm said, “I think the Chiefs are going to win the Super Bowl because my opinion is biased and I do not want the Niners to win because then they will be tied with the Steelers and Patriots with the most Super Bowls in the NFL.” Gonzales said, “I think the Chiefs are going to win because I’ve been hearing a lot of people talk about how they are going to win.”
