When you’re a kid, you’d typically imagine yourself as a superhero like Superman or Spider-Man. As films introduce more heroes from alternative universes, it enhances the imagination of  children  all throughout the worlds. DC Comics, a prominent superhero corporation  recently introduced a new concept targeted towards children and entertains the idea if children had superpowers of their own with the introduction of Shazam!.

Shazam! is a recent film detailing the life of a 14 year old boy who repeatedly  says the phrase “Shazam!’, and subsequently grows up and turns into a grown man with powers similar to Superman, and inheriting lightning based powers. While the character hasn’t received a mainstream presence since the 1980’s, his popularity  a movie.

Gabriel Palma, a Junior at ERHS, says “I think it’d be nice to see Shazam in a movie like today. I only hope it’s not as bad like some DC movies. I like the character, and I want to see him presented as he was meant to, a kid getting powers and wanting to be like Superman. I want to see the movie as it feels different from the other movies.”

The film releases April 5th. Will you be watching DC’s newest introduction of Shazam! Mustangs?
