Carrie Underwood Makes Chart History

Audrey Simanton, Staff Writer

Everyone knows Carrie Underwood as being the winner of American Idol in 2005, but in recent months she’s  been making history with her new  music. Her new song, “Cry Pretty”topped the Billboard 200 chart for this week, selling 266,000 albums.

However, this certainly isn’t the first time Carrie Underwood has topped the music charts; as she’s repeatedly surpassed other country music icons such as Faith Hill, Taylor Swift and Kelsi Ballerini, with her impeccable talent and musical style.

According to Underwood, her new song “Cry Pretty” refers to how emotions can  sometimes get the best of you, to where one can’t hold them in anymore. Underwood also stated that “The song comes from many events that have occurred  in my life in recent months.” While Carrie’s life events have evidently inspired her music, it’s no surprise that she’s ultimately had an immense influence on the lives of others.

Lifetime Carrie Underwood fan Kelly Harris stated that “She’s always been a part of my life and I listen to her all the time so I’m not surprised that she’s made history.”

Haley Pyne, an ERHS senior also expressed her love for Underwood as she said, “I love how Carrie Underwood’s songs make me feel like I’m  in a different world.”
