With Los Angeles being one of the biggest cities in the United States, and being known for it’s fashion centers and glamorous celebrities, we would have never expected a proposal to ban any fur products. Recently, an animal rights protest was held at Los Angeles City Hall, lead by dozens of California’s own animal protectors. With LA’s city council in plain sight, they officially took the initiative to draft an ordinance prohibiting any manufacturers or sale of fur products on September 18.

“I honestly think it’s great that they are no longer going to be selling fur products anymore,” explains Los Angeles enthusiast, Megan Leblanc. “We will be saving animal’s lives instead of wearing them.” Not only has a majority of California spoke up about the sale of innocent animals, but even Los Angeles’s own councilmen feel this cruelty needs to come to an end. “We feel like we’re evolving as a city, as people, to stop this kind of unnecessary cruelty,” Councilman Bob Blumenfield explains. “This is something that is not just a good legislative win, it’s a moral win.” Even huge companies such as Michael Kors, Armani and Gucci have also stepped away from using any animal products in their items being sold.

Although this is a change that will better the city of Los Angeles, most fur enthusists located in Los Angles will be highly disappointed when they can not find their beloved products in local fashion stores. In place of their favorite products, most stores will put fake animal fur items on stock so that everybody is satisfied and overall happy.

Start crossing Los Angeles out of your list to find any furry animal products! In about 2 years after final approval, you will no longer see animal cruel fur items such as clothing, handbags, shoes, hats, earmuffs, jewelry and key chains in stock in any of Los Angeles’s local shopping stores.
