Twenty One Pilots Release New Album Trench

The wait has finally come to an end. Twenty One Pilots are releasing their fourth studio album entitled “Trench.” The highly anticipated album is following the year long hiatus and fans are getting excited as it’s set to release on October 5.

Fans are getting their gear and buying tickets for the “The Bandito Tour” starting later this year. The first show of the tour is set to be in Nashville and will follow through all the way into next year, ending on March 17, 2019, where the last show will be held in Portugal. Most shows in the United States have been declared sold out so if you want to make it to see the duo, you may just have to travel to London to see them at the world famous Wembley Stadium, where they will perform for three nights.

When talking about their prior album, “Blurryface,” Tyler Joseph, lead singer, says that he made Blurryface his alter-ego, so full of his insecurities that he painted his neck and hands black as an act of symbolism. Joseph says that this was a way for him to sit down with his insecurities so that he could deal with them head on. “Trench” is the extension of that. A supernatural world called Trench was created to represent a better mental state where fans can go to escape the land of “Dema” where their personal insecurities live. The lyrics, “Dema don’t control us,” saying that people won’t let their insecurities and doubts rule them, can be found in the recent song, “Nico and the Niners,” released off of the album back in July. The album is confirmed to discuss all about the world of Trench, the anxiety issues that people want to get away from, and the safe haven they can find outside of Dema.

The power duo behind the band are Tyler Joseph and Josh Dun and they didn’t hold anything back on this new installment. With their unique alternative sound, they hit all the emotions as they touch on sensitive subjects such as suicide and depression. Joseph says, “When you write music that expresses doubt or concern, or talks about some of the darker things that a developing human goes through, people will come out of the woodwork to listen to someone else say it out loud.” This is why fans are so particularly drawn to Twenty One Pilots’ music. Fans all across the world tune in to listen so that they can feel something. That particular something, is hope. Katie Millspaugh, a fan, says that she loves Joseph and Dun’s sound and message, “because their music discusses darker topics in a way that teaches you it’s okay to be a little messed up.”

The band is not all smug looks and distant hearts, they really love their fans and the hope they give to them. Josh Dun, drummer, reflects on his love for the fans when he says, “We wouldn’t be here if they never happened and they never got behind the music and used it and made it their own and shared it with other people and welcomed other people into it. Yeah, they’ve changed our lives.”

A large variety of merchandise has also been released in promotion of the new album. Bundle sets including t-shirts, hoodies, a cassette tape and a black or yellow stained vinyl record that are all available to order on the band’s website.
