Our phones are a big part of everyday life, but with people more engrossed in  social media and the internet, there is always the possibility of criticism.

Within the past year clothing has been a huge part of online controversy.

First Lady Melania Trump sparked controversy throughout the nation when she wore a jacket with ‘I really don’t care’  while visiting the Texas -Mexico border during the height of immigrant family separation.

The First Lady was called names ranging from profanity to insensitive from citizens across the nation on social media.

Many influential members of the nation also commented on the inappropriate jacket; for example Stephen Colbert commented durning his show the “The Late Show with Stephen Colbert”.

“When I heard that she was doing this, I thought, okay, this is what first ladies often do- go to troubled areas, see the children, show that we care. You can’t mess that up. Guess what? Spoke too soon.”Image result for i really don't care

Many among the nation agreed with Colbert’s sentiment, even after President Trump insisted that the jacket was more in reference to her no longer caring about “fake news that was published”.

More recently a sweater priced at one hundred and sixty eight dollars sparked controversy through out not only the United States but as well as the rest of the world.

The Paloma Sweatshirt has ‘BEING FAT IS NOT BEAUTIFUL IT’S AN EXCUSE’ written on the front in bold black lettering.

The designer was flooded with hate comments bashing the new line of clothing and its derogatory messages.

A Revolve spokesperson, released a statement Wednesday September 12 saying ” The capsule collection- was originally conceived by LPA  alongside Lena Dunham, Emily Ratajkowski, Cara Delevinge, Suki Waterhouse and Paloma Elsesser- was set to debut tomorrow as a direct commentary on the modern day “normality” of cyber-bulling and the shared desire to create a community for those most affected by the epidemic.”

” I think this sweater is incorrect and extremely rude-” said junior Olivia Nissen, ” you are beautiful regardless of you body type.”

These are just two the most controversial clothes that have been shown in the past year. It is clear that, with the role fashion  and social media plays in our lives, similar controversies are bound to show up again.
