What Is The Hat Rule?

Eleanor Roosevelt High school (ERHS) has a strict policy about students wearing hats to school. They say, “if any student wears a non branded hat from ERHS, it will be taken away, and the student will receive a Saturday school.” This means, that no hats are allowed on campus, unless they are from school with the ERHS logo.

What’s The Reason?

This “hat rule,” is established to prevent any students from being offended by what others might wear. At the same time, the staff members say that is a matter of security, so they can identify who is a student of Eleanor Roosevelt High School. However, if a students wishes to wear a hat at ERHS, they must purchase a hat from the Student Store for twenty dollars.

“ Why is this the only solution to keep the students safe from danger?”

“What’s the difference if someone wears a t-shirt saying, Women Stay In The Kitchen; or a belt buckle with the Confederate Flag? It makes no sense executing a students choice of clothing. Students should have the right to wear any hat want at school, as long as, it doesn’t show offensive content.
