Eastvale resident killed by road debris in Duarte

A man from Eastvale was killed Mar. 14 after road debris pierced through the windshield of his car on the westbound 210 freeway, California Highway Patrol officials reported.

Los Angeles County Department of Coroner verified that 24-year-old Stace Woodward died on the scene as they tended his injuries. His friend that was sitting along him survived. In fact, the 25 year old Upland passenger sitting next to Woodward immediately took control of his car, a Volkswagen Jetta that was going at about 60mph in the #4 lane of the Foothill freeway, and brought the vehicle to a stop at the Buena Vista Street off-ramp. He then attempted 1st aid until the Los Angeles County Fire Department arrived.

The passenger was uninjured.

What caused the accident was apparently the actions of a tan pickup truck that cut through Woodward in the lane, passing through the debris that would eventually and unfortunately struck through the windshield of the driver’s seat and kill Woodward.

This all happened at about 12:42 pm at said location near the Buena Vista exit, according to reports from California Highway Patrol officer Rodrigo Jimenez.

Anyone with information about the incident is urged to call Officer Kyle Croxford of the CHP’s Baldwin Park Area office at (626) 338 – 1164.
