In the past, the world around us has often complained of the younger generation’s tendency to become so invested into their phones and other electronics. Today the whole world is ruled by technology, and whether or not that’s a good or bad thing depends entirely on the person, but a newer type of phone has been making its way into the spotlight for some pretty great reasons.

Meet the Light Phone 2, a small phone that’s idea was released last year, 2017.

Contrary to its futuristic design the phone is only equipped with some basic functions such as calling and messaging. This new minimalist phone is sure to cure all of your app addictions as the only other things you can do besides call or text is set an alarm, use a map, or listen to music. The Light Phone 2 is still in its prototype stage but those who are interested in purchasing the phone can pre-order it for only $250. Those who have already bought the phone say they’re looking forward to the weight they’ll feel lifted off of their lives as they won’t feel so tied down to their phones anymore. However, others have criticized the phone for being too unrealistic. Many people think the great thing about phones is that they have all this amazing information that’s simply right at their fingertips.

It’s estimated arrival is April of 2019 and that’s when the price is supposed to spike up to $400.

Senior, Ela Narisma doesn’t think she’ll ever want a phone like this. “I wouldn’t buy it because I like the fact that my phone has games honestly, I get bored a lot” she says. She adds that the internet is really useful when it comes to the world because it’s good to be aware of the things going on around us. “I also need my calculator” she concludes.
