ERHS Color Guard!!!

Our ERHS color guard team rarely gets recognition for its amazing talent and the amount of work it puts into bringing home wins. For years our color guard team has been working so hard to bring home the awards and trophies they’ve won and yet they get little to no spotlight on their incredible achievements.

Saturday the 24th on February, ERHS color guard hosted a WGASC competition right here at Eleanor Roosevelt High School. Around 60 schools competed. Out of all of those guards, our varsity took 1st and our jv took 3rd.

I got in touch with all three of the captains of the team and asked them some questions.  When asked how she felt about her first competition, Celeste Zavala responded saying ” For it being our first one we could have done better but i’m extremely happy about the outcome.” Next I asked if it was stressful hosting it at the school Zavala said, “Yes there was a lot of back and fourth and we were almost late to some of the awards.” The last question I asked her was how does she feel about the lack of recognition CG gets from the school and she said, “Although it would be nice to have some spotlight once in a while, we don’t really need it because we believe in ourselves and have enough confidence in ourselves to go without it.”

Jessica S., another color guard captain, says she’s excited for the rest of the season and can’t wait for all of the memories they will make as a team.

ERHS color guard is a strong team with many amazing people.
