Red cross Blood Drive
October 23, 2017
Blood can be donated for many reason, it can be donated and used for saving lives whether its being given to someone or used for research to help save lives. The Red Cross organization came to Eleanor Roosevelt High school October 16, 2017 to collect blood from willing donors; I among other students donated blood. Personally giving blood freaks me out because needles can be painful. Ever since I was younger I have had a fear of needles just like my mother and my sisters. Although I have a fear of needles I do love to help people in need and donating blood can help save lives.
Sienna Gomez a senior here at Eleanor Roosevelt High school that had an interesting expirence donating blood. It was Sienna’s first time donating blood, when asked how Red Cross’s service was she replied by saying “They were pretty good, they should have had more people and could have been more organized”. When Gomez was asked if it was painful she sayed “No not at all it felt like a little pinch” She also said the nurse she recieved poked her in the wrong spot the first time. Sienna also fainted while blood was being taken from her she said “I don’t remember what it felt like but I do remember waking up to nurses around me asking me how I felt and if I remembered the feeling of passing out”. Now it might be a little frightening thinking about donating blood but it isnt that common to faint while donating blood.
Donating blood can save lives and thats why me and many others do it. Red cross told me the next time they will be back to collect blood will be around January or Februaury of 2018. So if you have the heart come and donate the next chance you get!!
