The TV Show Season is Upon Us

The new 2017-2018 network, cable and streaming television season has come upon us, with new and returning shows making their way on viewer’s screen, all ranging from reality show to comedies to dramas.
Some reality TV shows that are making a return include the E! cable show “Keeping up with the Kardashians” and NBC’s “The Voice.”
Several variety sketch series are also making their returns, with the late night NBC show “Saturday Night Live” being big winners at this years Emmys.
As for comedy’s returning network TV shows, CBS’s “The Big Bang Theory” and “Kevin Can Wait,” ABC’s “The Goldbergs,” NBC’s “The Good Place” and “Superstore” start their new seasons.
NBC’s returning hit TV show “Will and Grace” will be returning this week after ending its original run 11 years ago. It has been known to bring comedic laughter and joy the eight seasons it ran from 1998-2006 and has now already been renewed for another season, despite not yet premiering its current new season. The show had over 83 Emmy nominations and is known to have touched on controversial topics that were uncommon in the early 21st century.
In drama, TV shows that will be making their returns include, FOX’s “Lethal Weapon” and “Empire,” CBS’s “NCIS,” and the eleven-time NBC Emmy nominated hit drama “This is Us.” The television drama is returning after its groundbreaking emotional imprint it had left this past first season on its audience.
There are also upcoming new TV dramas premiering as well with the like including ABC”s “The Good Doctor” a show which ERHS senior Chelsea Enchenique declared “good and wasn’t like TV’s usual ‘underdog is always knows everything’ type of show.”
Crime TV shows that are also returning are NBC’s “Law and Order: Special Victims Unit,” CBS’s “Criminal Minds,” ABC’s “How to get Away with Murder” and NBC’s “Chicago P.D.”
The new crime show “Law and Order True Crime: The Menéndez Murders” airs on NBC as a limited series that revolves around the real life 1989 Menéndez Murder trial in the early 90s.
Horror series have gained a larger audience in recent years, especially with the help of shows like FX’s “American Horror Story”,- FX’S “The Exorcist,” Syfy’s “Z Nation,” and new Syfy horror TV show “Superstition.”
Emmy and Golden Globe award nominated dramedies that are returning this fall season are ABC”s “Grey’s Anatomy,” the CW’s “Crazy Ex-Girlfriend” and “Jane the Virgin.”
