Disney World and Hurricane Irma

In Florida, Hurricane Irma has had great effect on its people and attractions. One being Disney World in Florida that decided to close this past Sunday and Monday for only the fifth time it’s 46 years being open. Disney World is said to get through this hurricane through their decision from building the attractions hurricane proof.

At this time Disney World was seen to have covered their glass lights in plastic, tie trash cans to buildings to prevent any hazardous outcomes from the hurricane. Visitors during the hurricane have seen trashcans being filled with water or sand to prevent them from being blown away. As for the other Disney World attractions, they were preparing to close the park for the next two days. Closing the park for two days was made to prevent any harms that can come to their visitors, despite the decrease of money the park will be loosing.

The park is known to bring joy and laughter, in this time of darkness, the parks sole purpose is to bring light in these times. For Disney World themselves going through this disaster you see a cast of gray over the park rather than its usual joyful spirit. A different view is seen of Disney’s Parks and really showcases the pain not only Florida is going through but the world.

Previous visitor of Disney World senior, Luke Obena, “I hope everything is fine and that Disney World will bring joy to those who have lost so much during the hurricane.”
