Let Me Hear You, Mustangs!

A little recap from last week’s game Sept 8: We played against Servite and the outcome was not good and underwhelming. The players were feeling very confident but the ending score was around 27-52.

Overall, the team was very disappointed with how the game turned out, but when reflecting on what happened, there are many things they can work on for this upcoming game on Friday. Roosevelt’s football team’s game this week is actually at home again this week at 7 pm in our Mustang Stadium!

When the game first started at the previous game, they blasted “Pretty Boy Swag” by Soulja Boy and the crowd went wild as that’s their favorite song to get hyped up before games. That meant a lot to the boys because it motivated them to get ready for the game.

The goal for them this week when facing against Alta Loma High is to seek redemption from their last game.

The team has 6th period 3 times this week, meaning that they’re going to have weight room for some extra time and still their everyday practices that go up to 9 pm. The start of the season has been very interesting so far.

Of course, learning from the mistakes made is very important and their minds are going to have to get their priorities in check and in order for them to have the season the whole school hopes for. This week’s game is just showing them how close they are to the homecoming game! Be sure to be in the stands screaming for your favorite player if it’s a crush, boyfriend or sibling. Get ready to be hype in the Stampede too and make a lot of noise!

This week’s thoughts on the game are from Andy Koch and Tajh Thornton. Thornton, a running back, explained “I think as a team we need to play more to our ability and we need to keep on having trust in each other to be confident in this upcoming game, since we lost last game now we know how to work from our mistakes so this game should be interesting.” Koch, a defensive end, explained “I think this week we need to get our confidence back, stay focused and just play our game. When we do that, I think we can be unbeatable. We work hard all week to get back on track and perfect our mistakes for Alta Loma and the games afterwards too.”
