In Eastvale, it is easy to check the air quality by taking a gaze at the mountains. There are days when the mountains are clearly visible and days where they completely disappear even though they are 30 minutes away. Here are some tips to take care of our air quality:

  • Use the cold water setting when washing clothes

      1. The more heat used, the more coal burned to generate enough electricity for heat power. Also, only do laundry when you have a full load.

  • Don’t use a dryer.

      1. Again, dryers use heat to dry clothes. It must use a lot of energy to generate the heat.

  • Drive less.

      1. Although this is understandable considering people must use cars to get to places, there are a few things that people should consider such as carpooling whenever possible and investing in an eco-friendly car.

  • Replace light bulbs with energy efficient bulbs.

      1. Not only will this reduce waste, but it will also help save energy along the way.

  • Turn off lights when not in use.

      1. Switch the lights off when you are not directly in need of light to reduce unnecessary energy waste.

  • Don’t use the AC/heater for too long.

      1. Constantly having the AC and heater on or leaving it on with windows open is a huge waste of energy. Try closing windows during the summer afternoon heat and opening it during the evening when it is cool to help conserve the coolness inside.

  • Get everything in one trip.

      1. When going to a grocery store, have a list to keep everything that you need so you don’t forget something and have to go back. Also, buy in bulk to reduce your need to take more trips to the grocery store and back.

  • Plant plants!

    1. The best way to help clear the air of pollution is planting the right trees. You can do this in your front yard or use a search engine like ecosia.org to support tree-planting projects. If space does not allow to plant a tree, try keeping air purifying plants such as aloe vera and pothos in your housing area.
