Although “Coraline” is not a new movie, it is still a wonderful movie that many people love and enjoy. If you haven’t watched it yet, it is a must-watch for the Halloween season.
“Coraline,” directed by Henry Selick, is about a girl named Coraline Jones who finds a secret door while exploring her new house. Behind the door, she finds herself in a world that mirrors her own very closely, but in many ways, is better. She is happy about her discovery, until Other Mother and the rest of Coraline’s parallel family try to trap her forever. Coraline has to be brave and use all her resources to escape and return to her own family and world.
This movie is a stop-motion animation, and those types of movies are my favorite. Overall the plot is interesting and has a whimsical and creepy vibe to it. The plot also has elements of themes like “some things are too good to be true” and “be careful for what you wish for.”
The film has horror themes that are well presented and incredible. Personally, I don’t really like that many horror movies, but “Coraline” has a perfect amount of horror in it. The cast did a great job at their roles and even though this movie is animated, it felt real. Even if “Coraline” can be considered scary to many, it can still be enjoyed by all ages. Overall, this movie is 5 stars and doesn’t deserve any less.

Mila Hernandez, a freshman at ERHS, shared her opinion on “Coraline”.
“It’s an amazing movie, especially if you watch it around Halloween,” Hernandez said. “Coraline has a good plot, characters and the stop-motion style is my favorite.”
Hernandez also says she recommends the film.
“I recommend this movie if you like stop-motion animation and horror like themes,” Hernandez added.
Analise Gutierrez, a junior at ERHS, expressed her opinion on the movie as well.
“I like Coraline, I think it’s really good,” Gutierrez said. “I think it’s a little creepy, but that’s what makes it enjoyable.”
Gutierrez also shared who is her favorite character from “Coraline”.
“I like the character Coraline because she’s the main character and she’s really likable,” Gutierrez said.
If you haven’t watched “Coraline” yet, you definitely should! If you have, then now is the season to re-watch it.
