Messi or Ronaldo. That is the question.

For 15+ years, the Messi and Ronaldo rivalry has existed. These two players have caused a massive debate on who is better. Today, I will explain to you why I think Messi is better.

Messi is known for his incredible dribbling, passing, and intelligence on the pitch, while Ronaldo is known for his advanced goal-scoring capabilities and extreme athleticism. Even though they seem pretty much the same in terms of who’s better, Messi has won more trophies throughout the soccer world and his career. With 8 record-breaking Ballon d’Ors, 1 World Cup, and 10 La Liga titles. While Ronaldo has only won 5 Ballon d’Ors, 2 La Liga titles, and 5 UEFA Champions League trophies.

Another reason why I think Messi is better than Ronaldo is because Messi seems much less selfish than Ronaldo. Some examples of this are that Messi is more of a team player than Ronaldo is most of the time, and Messi gives his teammates more options to make goals than Ronaldo normally does. Ronaldo seems to want all the glory, while Messi is happy to offer chances and play together with his teammates.

ERHS Boys’ Soccer Coach, Coach Lopiccolo, was asked for a quote on who he thought was better, and this was his response,

“My vote is for Messi. They were both amazing in their primes, and still great for what we would call old for sports. Messi tops the list for me because I believe Messi does a better job making the players on his team better. Their individual talent can be argued all day, so making those around him better is the one factor that puts Messi just above.”

Freshman Hudson Buckwalter was interviewed and was asked who he thought was better, and this was his response,

“Ronaldo because he’s just a better guy, and has been in better clubs.”
