Well, it is that time of year again. The Dodgers most recently played on October 1, and here are their chances of advancing towards the World Series.
As of right now, the Dodgers ‘ loss record is 93-69, and they are 1st in the NL West. The Dodgers have been consistently playing well, despite a seven game losing streak a few weeks back.
Most recently, the Dodgers played the Cincinnati Reds, and the Dodgers won that series on October 1. This series win came after bullpen troubles and unconfirmed rumors that tensions had been high between the players on the Dodgers after their surprising losing streak.
Although the Dodgers have improved their pitching struggles, the next few weeks might throw them off. They are scheduled to play challenging teams in the next few weeks. They are set to play the Philadelphia Phillies, and game one is scheduled for October 4. If the Dodgers cannot control their bullpen struggles, they face a very real chance of being eliminated by next week.
One of Eleanor Roosevelt High School’s DLI teachers, Ernesto Rangel, shared his thoughts on the Dodgers chances in the 2025 season. In response to the Dodgers losing streak and bullpen troubles, Rangel says, “…I think it’s more favorable when we come in as one of the top seeds, not the top.”
Rangel added, “I’m glad we got that [Dodgers losing streak] out of our systems. We’ll be better in the off-season.”
When asked if the Dodgers will make it to the World Series, Rangel stated, “One hundred percent, yes. Our bats have to stay high, because if we get cold, that is when we start losing.”

Eleanor Roosevelt High School junior Gabriel Franc had similar things to say about the Dodgers World Series chances. Franc stated, “I do think the Dodgers can win the World Series. They have all the parts to win, but their chances aren’t as solid as some people would say.” Franc continued, “I think their biggest challenge will be pitching, late game pitching especially. They [Dodgers] have been rocky when we switch out our starters, and it’s just been overall inconsistency.”
Franc then shared his opinions on the Dodgers overall performance. He said, “The Dodgers have been strong but an imperfect team. I mean, they can beat good teams along with good rotations and good offense. They’re just too inconsistent this season.” He ended his thoughts by saying, “The Cubs, Phillies and Brewers will probably give us the most problems. All those teams have been good all season, they have been notoriously good. But only time will really tell.”
The fate of the Dodgers will be determined as they face the Phillies in game one on Saturday, Oct. 4, and then into next week.
